Advanced Engineering’s new cleaner, FroZone, is for low temperature cleaning.
Sub-zero refrigerators and freezers use a lot of energy, so optimal performance is important. Even a small drop in effi ciency can noticeably increase energy usage. Debris build-up on external heat transfers can increase the condensing temperature or reduce evaporating temperature by several degrees, adversely aff ecting freezer contents and increasing energy use by over 10%. It can also cause safety issues. Unlike standard fl oor cleaners which freeze at 0°C, FroZone is formulated to work at sub-zero temperatures of up to -25°C, enabling on the spot cleaning. By cutting through grease and grime, FroZone eliminates the risk of freezer shutdown. Its non-metal corrosive formula ensures it’s safe to use on aluminium, stainless steel and copper surfaces, so it can be used to clean freezer heat exchanger surfaces with no risk of damage. It makes easy work of freezer walls and fl oors and is NSF registered, making it perfect for cleaning in and around food processing areas without the worry of contamination.

Ventilation manufacturer Airfl ow Developments has introduced its new digital hot wire anemometer, the AL- BD1.
It is the ideal solution to measure air fl ow in restricted areas within industrial and commercial environments and can be used for a variety of industries, including electric power, steel and petrochemical. The AL- BD1 can measure standard air velocity, temperature and fl ow as well as maximum and minimum wind velocity and maximum and average wind speed. The device has a data-hold function that allows the user to keep current readings, even when factors have changed, to ensure data is not lost. The AL-BD1 can store up to 350 records and has a USB port. The AL-BD1 also has a delete function for when data is no longer needed Marketing manager John Kelly added: “The device has a battery life of 20 hours with continuous use and alerts the user if the battery is running low.”

The latest version of Precision’s compact undercounter, the HPU150, has achieved an A rating for energy effi ciency. Designed to deliver a practical storage solution where space is limited, it has a footprint of only 600x640mm.
The HPU150’s A rating means low power consumption and low running costs; under the Ecolabelling test it used just 1.27kWh in 24 hours. Its energy saving features include zero ODP polyurethane insulation, a waste heat recovery condensate vaporizer system, and the Precision electronic controller. The undercounter’s attractive design, with a stainless steel construction and fl ush door handle, makes it ideal for kitchen and front of house applications. It is supplied with two adjustable, removable shelves. Alongside the standard HPU150, Precision off ers the HPU152, which replaces the door with two drawers, and the HPU153, which off ers a bank of three drawers. Precision’s compact undercounter is also available as a freezer in model LPU150.

As the use of CO2 gas increases in popularity as a natural refrigerant, due to its low environmental impact and increasing HFC regulations, Bacharach is off ering an eff ective CO2 leak detection
monitor for industrial and retail refrigeration applications. This instrument is selective, taking into consideration both response times and operating temperatures in these applications. Tom Burniston, product manager of fi xed instruments, said: “Not all CO2 monitors are suitable for leak detection in refrigeration applications. The sensors used need to respond quickly to a rise in CO2 levels. Since CO2 has a high operating pressure, gases can quickly escape into the refrigerated space at very high rates. Instrumentation designed to monitor for gradual changes in atmospheric CO2 may not alert personnel in a timely manner, creating a potentially dangerous condition that quickly poses a threat to personnel.” Bacharach’s instrument is specifi ed for use in the operating temperatures required within refrigeration applications. The sensor is rated for use at temperatures as low as -40°C / -40°F. . Sensors that are not designed to perform in this environment may be inoperable or provide inaccurate CO2 readings.
