PROJECT OF THE YEAR

Winner Aermec UK Data centre cooling at Telstra W

hen Telstra embarked on an overhaul of its aged IT infrastructure in London’s Docklands, it quickly became apparent that Aermec was a manufacturer that could off er a

standard chiller capable of fi tting through the doors, deliver energy savings, ROI and address environmental considerations. Aermec designed and implemented a more energy effi cient cooling strategy in Telstra’s mission critical data centre, resulting in more effi cient cooling using super-effi cient compressor technologies, a reduced carbon footprint, boosted EER ratings and enabled the customer’s annual energy bill to be reduced by £200K per annum and based on these results, over a 10-year period the units could save Telstra up to £2 million.

Data centres are one of the fastest growing consumers of energy. With the continuing explosion of big data, cloud computing and the Internet of Things, rising energy costs and resources, effi ciencies are more important than ever. The design and implementation of more effi cient power and cooling plays a major role in cutting costs and increasing ROIs. Modernising aged sites can help contain their biggest challenges - resource effi ciency, energy use, and water consumption. Benefi cial upgrades or replacements can help alleviate many resource concerns and add to the stability and longevity of existing facilities. This is exactly what Aermec achieved for Telstra, with a more optimised and value driven cooling solution.
