Claire then decided to cross to the ‘other side’ and has spent the last five years fundraising and mentoring charities in Kent. Claire is a member of the Institute of Fundraising and is married to a Geography Teacher.
NIKKI SHEEHAN is an award-winning
journalist who has investigated everything from nappies to school curricula, and has
interviewed celebrities as diverse as Gok Wan and Alistair Campbell. Nikki’s three children have, at various times, been educated in state schools, private schools, faith schools and at home. Nikki is also a prize-winning children’s author.
JONATHAN MAY is founder and CEO of
Hubbub, a specialist crowdfunding network for education. A Director of the UK Crowdfunding
Association and a member of the Westminster Crowdfunding Forum – an advisory board to Whitehall – he is well connected and highly respected. Jonathan has a passion for helping schools fundraise effectively online.
RACHEL GORDON heads up the School
Funding Service, which helps schools across the UK secure grants for a range of projects, from
sports equipment to extended services. She writes bids for schools and advises them on how to maximise their funding potential. Rachel has written for numerous publications, including Headteacher Update and Sec-Ed.
HOWARD ROSE is the Funding and
Publicity Manager at Balsall Common Primary School. He secures grants, sponsorship and
support from businesses to enhance teaching and learning. In 2014 Balsall Common Primary School was judged outstanding by Ofsted and in 2015 they won a Chamber of Commerce Education and Business Partnership Award.
PAUL SMITH is Executive Director
at YPO, the largest publicly-owned buying organisation in the UK, which supplies
resources, services and training to schools. Paul has over 20 years’ experience in procurement, and has represented the UK at the European Commission on the role of central purchasing bodies.
