BEST TIME TO VISIT: Cuba’s climate is subtropical — hot all year round with most rainfall between May and October. The dry season is November to April and there’s a possibility of hurricanes in September and October. GETTING THERE: Major gateways: Havana (HAV), Varadero (VAR), Holguin (HOG), Cayo Coco (CCC). Flying time from the UK is around 9.5 hours. Virgin Atlantic flies direct to Havana and Varadero from London Gatwick.
