NEWS Register for The Travel Convention 2017


Registration opens at the end of March for ABTA’s Travel Convention 2017, which will take place from 9–11 October 2017 in Ponta Delgada in Sao Miguel, the largest of the nine Azores islands. With an exceptional lineup of inspirational


guest speakers, delegates will once again be inspired by an outstanding programme, with thought-provoking ideas to challenge the way they approach their business. ABTA’s chief executive Mark Tanzer said:


“Last year was eventful in so many ways, and 2017 looks set to follow suit. This year’s Travel Convention will uncover the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and explore the certainties that will guide us as we move into the next chapter. The Convention will provide an opportunity to gain insights and tips as we look to shape the industry of tomorrow rather than be shaped by it.” The Convention will take place over three days,


with a programme of networking events running alongside the business sessions, which will take place at the historic Teatro Micaelense Cultural and Congress Centre. Chris Ship will return by popular demand to


moderate the Convention. Chris is the recently appointed ITV royal editor and was previously deputy political editor for ITV News. Delegates can choose to stay at three hotels in Ponta


Delgada — the Hotel Marina Atlântico, the Azoris Royal Garden Hotel and the fi ve-star Hotel Azor, which will host the Convention Bar, the main venue for aſt er-hours delegate networking and socialising. Azores Airlines will operate dedicated scheduled fl ights to/


from London to Ponta Delgada for a return fare of just £238.02, with a limited number of Business Class seats also available. Reduced rates are also being off ered to/from Lisbon for delegates who prefer to travel via the Portuguese capital. Details of how to book fl ights and excursions will be provided at the time of registration.
