FA Skills Programme Short Term lesson plan (continued) Organisation

Ball each warm up – 2/3 minutes travelling with the ball to allow coach the chance to assess the players and set appropriate challenge. Players will travel with the ball (Car) towards spots (garages).

The aim is to stop the ball and start the ball again using different parts of their feet. Players then move onto not stopping the ball but moving the ball around the spots.

Defenders can be added to try and steal the ball away from attackers and drivers are safe if they are in the garages.

Questions to support learning

• What different parts of the feet can you use to travel? • What is the easiest way to stop the ball? • How can you travel past the spots with the ball? • How can you change speed with the ball?

Learning Outcomes

Technical (doing)

• All players will use different parts of their feet in unopposed and semi opposed situations

Physical (doing)

= attacker = defender = spots

Diagram

• Players will use changes of speed and direction to unbalance a defender in order to move past them

Organisation

Coach to decide at any point to challenge those achieving the outcome and place them into 1v1 2v2 3v3 or uneven team games with the aim of trying to dribble past a defender and stop the ball in the garages to score.

To begin with this can be to all spots and then each group can decide to condition their game to a certain number.

This is a great practice for differentiation as you can have many games within the same area.

Questions to support learning

• When travelling with the ball how can we tell where the danger is? • What can we do to fool the attackers? Learning Outcomes

Technical (doing)

• Some players will use different parts of their feet to trick a defender and move past them.

• A few players will use different parts of their feet to trick defenders in game situations
