Virtual reality

The National Theatre has been experimenting with virtual reality

technology, so it’s safe to say that hi-tech is big news on the stage. Here are five current shows of theatre at its most futuristic

1

Klanghaus As part of this summer’s

Festival of Love, the Southbank

Centre is giving its hidden spaces a little TLC. This game-changing gig fills the venue’s corridors and hidden rooms with art, theatre, and a time-hopping band that’s inspired by everyone from The Rolling Stones to Portishead. à Southbank Centre. Thu Jul 7-Jul 29. £10-£25.

performance which issues audience members with cutting-edge virtual- reality headsets. 3D imagery will put you at the heart of an emotionally intense story of power and control. à Rada. Jul 12-23. £15.

Memento This is no ordinary walk in the

park. Visit an old phonebox to collect a set of headphones that will

adventure round London, where actors mingle with unsuspecting passers-by. Can you spot the terrorist lurking in their midst? à Secret location. Until Jul 24. £20.

Needles and Opium Does all this interactive stuff

sound too much like hard
