Promotional feature 72 hours in London

The greatest city in the world just gets greater in those few precious weeks when the sun’s out. Maximise your good times with our guide to three brilliant summer days in London

British Summer Time Wimbledon

 Day 2 Day two is for sport. Do you love the smell of petrol in the morning? Then it’s well worth the drive or train ride to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix (July 8-10, www.silverstone.co.uk). Will Williams Martini Racing have a weekend to remember? Be trackside to find out. If strawberries and cream are more your thing,Wimbledon (until July 10, www.wimbledon.com) is calling, as it does every year. Queue up for a grounds pass and join the packed crowd on Murray Mound for London tennis fever at its hottest.

 Day 1 Day one is for culture. After work, get down to the National Portrait Gallery (St Martin’s Place, 020 7306 0055) for an aperitivo with friends. The gallery stays open late on Thursday and Friday in summer, when you can join workshops and talks by artists,

listen to live music and DJs, or just enjoy a cultural twist on post-work drinks. Need a nightcap? Head to Cahoots (13 Kingly Court, 020 7352 6200), where everything, from the cheery door staff to the outfits and decor, channels 1940s London.

Dandelyan National Portrait Gallery

 Day 3 For day three, it’s festival time.British Summer Time (July 1-3, 8-10, www.bst-hydepark.com) draws big names to Hyde Park over the first two weekends of July, and this year is no exception. On stage will be Kendrick Lamar, Massive Attack and Carole King. Huge – and the music starts in the early afternoon, so you can make a day of it. If you work up a thirst from all that dancing (or just lolling about in the sun), make forDandelyan at the Mondrian Hotel (20 Upper Ground, 020 3747 1000), where you can throw back one of Ryan Chetiyawardana’s expertly crafted cocktails – or a simple and refreshing Martini and tonic.
