CARPET PURE BRIT! Pure Brit! Adam Carpets launched the new Pure
Brit! range at this year’s Flooring Show’ in Harrogate. We find out what makes it purely British.
Pure Brit!’ is an 80/10/10 twist carpet made using undyed British Wool. This wool has been taken from British sheep, bred by British farmers, and spun in the UK by British spinners before being manufactured by a British Company in the heart of Britain, Kidderminster.
We asked Eamonn Prescott, sales director at Adam Carpets, about the new range:
Q. Why 80/10/10 and not 100% wool?
A. Over many years and tests the 80/20 or 80/10/10 blend has proven to be the most robust and durable choice for yarn in a twist carpet. We wanted to ensure that our carpets are suitable for the areas that our customers will be installing them into.
Q. If the wool is undyed, where does
the colour come from? A. The colour comes from two parts. Firstly, the majority of the colour comes from the fleece which is determined by the breed. We are one of very few manufacturers who specify the breed of sheep that we want our wool to come from. Second, the coloured man-made fibre is blended with the wool.
Q. Why use undyed wool?
A. Although many customers may prefer to have colour, there is no doubt that there is a growing trend towards undyed wool products, whether that is in carpets or indeed fabrics. The natural fleeces that we have selected have created a wonderful palette that we think suits the undyed trend right now.
Q. What makes the range unique?
A.“This is a range that has two great selling points, the Pure element is that it is made with undyed wool, for an environmental message and the Brit! element, to celebrate the best of British carpet manufacturing.”
This carpet also has an incredibly small carbon footprint and will only be sold within the UK. It is made using the finest yarns to ensure a high quality product that Adam Carpets customers are accustomed to.
Environmentally friendly, sustainable, fashionable and highly desirable are how Adam Carpets describe the range and they started the marketing campaign with online teasers in August.
