COMMERCIAL LAUNDRY RIGHT ON TRACK

As RP Adam continues to work towards its 20-20-20 growth strategy, we learn how the Scottish company’s Digital Reporting Technology has inspired a new five-year contract extension with Barchester Healthcare to supply laundry detergents and cleaning products to more than 200 care homes.

RP Adam Ltd (Arpal Group) has recently signed a five-year contract extension with Barchester Healthcare to provide laundry detergents as well as catering hygiene and domestic cleaning products to more than 200 care homes across the UK.

After working through a significant tender process, RP Adam was able to secure the new multi-million pound deal in large part because of the quality offered in its premium service package.

This premium offering provides its customers with service improvements and cost reductions by using bespoke digital technology help make the business of commercial laundry run consistently smoother.

Designed specifically by RP Adam, the technology included in the premium package introduces digital tagging to allow for greater control of stock levels, which means customers can avoid being left in a situation where they have high cash values tied in stock cupboards for long periods of time, it also helps with ensuring tighter management of dispenser maintenance and repairs.

The RFID encoded tags are located on RP Adam’s chemical dosing units and at store cupboard locations across Barchester’s 200 establishments. By scanning these codes, RP Adam’s Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), who visit these sites on a regular basis, are able to provide accountability to both the client and the HQ in Selkirk. As soon as each code is scanned the results of checkups and stock inventory are reported immediately to that location’s database and can be accessed using an iPad app designed specifically for this purpose.

This method of reporting has been developed over the last few years, and means that RP Adam’s larger multi- site clients, like Barchester Healthcare, can now receive a far more productive preventative maintenance service.

This has already reduced engineer call outs by 40% in six months for Barchester. For a company that relies on being able to consistently provide clean bedding and towels, spotless rooms and pristine facilities this is a huge benefit as it not only avoids wasted time but keeps things running smoothly and allows them to focus on the business of caring.

Lee-Anne Gillie, Director of UK Operations at RP Adam Ltd said: “The advances made in our digital service technology have significantly reduced time spent processing data and now means we can take more control over activity and management of our CSRs and engineers.

“RP Adam’s business model is such that the main responsibility of its CSRs is to cultivate and maintain dependable and trustworthy relationships. But in addition, they are trained to take on routine engineering tasks to ensure all dispensing units are functioning correctly, being used in the right way with the correct chemical and the correct dose. Our premium technology allows us to make sure these duties are being fulfilled regularly and to the best possible standards.

“Our premium service offering provides customers like Barchester with the confidence that we are maintaining our equipment appropriately and that we are monitoring our clients’ costs. This technology shows that we are doing the best job for the customer and helps to develop a deep trust in that relationship.”

Linda Chirrey Head of Supply Chain at Barchester Healthcare added: “We have worked with RP Adam for many years on a dual supplier contract basis and I can confidently say there is a genuine trust between our two businesses. RP Adam has consistently improved their offering and has shown it is prepared to go the extra mile to provide the correct solution for its customers – whether through improvements to technology, equipment or indeed the chemical solutions required for our cleaning needs.”

The Barchester contract win is another significant step on the road of RP Adam’s 20-20-20 growth strategy, and further expands its private healthcare sector business base, following last year’s contract award with another major player in the care sector, Avery Healthcare. As they enter the final quarter of the first year of its five year plan, the UK and Middle Eastern businesses which comprise the Arpal Group are well on track.
