INTERSERVE SECURES ACCOUNT EXTENSION WITH EAST
MIDLANDS TRAINS Interserve has won a two-year account extension to provide facilities services for East Midlands Trains (EMT), part of Stagecoach Group.
Interserve, which has delivered facilities management services for the group since 2012, will continue to provide cleaning services for seven EMT offices and 13 stations as well as trains, including in-transit cleaning, mobile deep cleaning and turnaround cleaning, until March 2018.
Based in Derby, EMT operates high- speed services to and from London, as well as regional train services in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.
Kevin Murgatroyd, Sector Director for Transport at Interserve, said:

“Transport is a key area of growth for Interserve, and we’re delighted that East Midlands Trains has decided to renew our partnership. We have a strong presence in the rail industry and our dedicated division has a proven ability to safely and efficiently deliver a wide range of services across the specialist sector.
“We have worked closely with EMT over the last three years to deliver the best possible customer experience. We encourage our employees to behave as an extension of the operator’s teams – continually focusing on the needs of passengers
to ensure our standards evolve in line with changing customer needs and increasing passenger numbers.”
Bob Mercer, Procurement Manager at East Midlands Trains, added: “Interserve understands the challenges that we face as a sector and strives to work with us to find solutions. Its approach to delivering an EMT-specific passenger experience is a key differentiator in service delivery.
“The team at Interserve has been a pleasure to work with and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them over the coming years.”

Since being founded in 2002 by Adrian Cresswell, AM Support Services has grown to employ 480 full and part-time staff on contracts in the North West, North East and Yorkshire. The acquisition of Cleanex now gives it a foothold in the Midlands market and takes turnover to around the £8m mark.
Adrian Cresswell, Managing Director of AM Support Services, said: “This acquisition could not have come at a better time as we have just won two major new contracts in the industrial sector. The specialist skills that Cleanex brings to the business will allow us to do so much more for our clients.
“For example, it can offer niche services like ice-blasting, cleaning in confined spaces and paint booth cleaning. It has some prestigious clients in the aerospace and automotive sectors and so takes us into a new arena.”
Brett Cooper, who led the team at Harrison Drury, said: “Adrian has built an award-winning business from
scratch and it’s great to see it going from strength to strength. Strategically, the acquisition ticks all the boxes you would want it to in financial growth, geographic growth, and new expertise and services. This a great opportunity for Adrian and his team.”
Jenny McCabe at CLB Coopers, added: “This acquisition will mean that Adrian and the team can take the business to the next exciting stage of its development. Adrian is an entrepreneur with great ambitions for the future so we were obviously delighted to work with him and advise, not just on the deal itself, but also on the wider strategic development of his business.”
