SHOW REVIEW
CLOSING THOUGHTS
So, my first trip to Amsterdam, my first experience of ISSA/Interclean, ‘how was it?’ I hear you cry. Well, once I’d got used to the sheer size of the place (did I mention that it was big?) it was a wonderful event, full of interesting things to see and people to talk to.
I feel that trade shows are often an underrated benefit to industries such as ours, not just for the out and out business that is carried out on the show floor, but also the relationships and even friendships that are formed in the process. Even though I’ve not been in the industry very long, comparatively speaking, it was wonderful to see so many people that I’ve dealt with in my relatively short time in the cleaning world, to be able to shake their hand and develop those working relationships. And now that my feet have finally stopped aching (it took a while!), I’m really looking forward to the next show, and the next opportunity to meet with all you lovely people.
But enough from me – we spoke to some of the big names that were there to hear their thoughts of the show. Here’s what they said.
Juha Tilli, Senior Vice President of BU Away-from-Home at Metsä Tissue, said: ISSA/Interclean 2016 was a great success for Metsä Tissue and the Katrin brand. The show was really buzzing, with even more

visitors than two years ago, including a high percentage of international visitors, which is great when you are showcasing a new product range as we were.”
Elsewhere, Rafael Echevarria, Director of Corporate Communications at Diversey Care, added: “Interclean 2016 has been the most successful one for us ever. We saw unprecedented traffic, resounding in a lot of interest in our innovations, and a huge success in terms of sales leads.”
In the UK Pavilion, the MotorScrubber stand remained constantly busy throughout the show and Managing Director Imre Killi was delighted with the interest. He said: “The show’s been unbelievable for us. While we’ve been here, we’ve had people from everywhere – Australia, Africa, China – everyone is loving the product, so it’s very exciting for us.”
Meanwhile, first time exhibitors Templa CMS told us how they found their Interclean debut. Rick Stoor, Managing Director, said: “Although we set off not expecting too much, we were actually blown away. With visitors coming from as far afield as South America, Far and Middle East, US, as well as most European countries. This show has exceeded our expectations and has given us the confidence to pursue our sales
expansion plan. We hope to come back in 2018 as an established Overseas software provider."
Jamie Wright, Communications Manager UK&I at SCA, added: “As always, ISSA is such a fantastic show to be part of. Like all previous years the show was very busy and hectic, but we felt like we got so much out of it – from chatting to customers old and (hopefully!) new, to taking part in seminars and press discussions, it was certainly a fulfilling and successful show for us. I know already we are very much looking forward to the next show in 2018!”
But the final words, I believe, should be left to the organisers themselves. Rob den Hertog, Exhibition Director at RAI Amsterdam, said: “The success of ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam was the great atmosphere throughout the RAI complex. From the Award Ceremony on the opening day of the show to the many business contacts on the exhibition floor, from the high degree of knowledge exchange at the complementary ISSA seminar programme and the innovations in the InnovationLAB to the networking fun at the various social gatherings, ISSA/ Interclean was the place to be.
“Now the work starts for ISSA/ Interclean Amsterdam 2018, we look forward to it!”
