It’s a common misconception amongst the public that pregnant women look glowing and radiant. As a make-up artist I can tell you that, having watched several friends during their pregnancies, I certainly didn’t witness this! Between morning sickness, irregular sleep patterns and a general feeling of being uncomfortable, they seemed to be constantly tired and exhausted. So, how do you stay in tip-top condition
during your pregnancy? Well, firstly, I think it’s so important to
hydrate and keep your skin in good condition despite pregnancy. To keep your skin supple and to help the adverse effects of stretch marks, I have heard raving reviews about Weleda's Stretch Mark Massage Oil (Holland & Barrett). During pregnancy, there’s no sequence
of events that happens to every single woman's skin. Each and every woman is totally different. From my experience, one of the most common skin issues I have found has been dryness with dark circles and pigmentation. One of the most ‘rescuing’ products I have used for expectant mums is Caudalie's Vinosource Radiance Serum (Space NK & Make up Pro Store ) This is an oil-free serum which is ideal so as to not upset the skin's
natural PH balance. It corrects dark spots and evens out skin tone to give you an added boost. During pregnancy, your skin goes
through so many changes and phases. So, for your foundation, you need something that is easy to apply, has a changeable coverage so that you can have more or less coverage as desired, and is easy to carry around. This has to be Make up Studio Face It light foundation (Make up Pro Store). I love this foundation for normal/dry skin types as it is a cream-based product, which allows the skin to appear smooth and flawless and is so easy to apply. A definite ‘must- have’ for your handbag. I am all about having products that are
both multi-use and collated in one place. The best example of this is the SoSu Contour Palette. Most women love a sculpted contour in their complexion and this six-piece product kit that has everything you need. The SoSu palette has a mixture of creams and powders, but I would still label this as a cream contour kit. I love using this on clients who love a strong contour, so I definitely recommend it! If you love to keep your brows dark,
defined and arched, there are several products to use to achieve this. Firstly, you need a really good eyebrow gel. This is a must-have if you love a strong brow. One of my favourite brow gels is
Illasmasqua Brow Build (Illasmasqua & Make up Pro Store). For a lip colour, I am really loving using
gloss on my clients! I love how fresh and dewy it looks and just finishes a look perfectly. You can use your normal lipstick and place a clear gloss over the top, but I adore glosses with the colour built in. For a light red lip gloss colour for the lips I recommend using NYX Cosmetics Intense Butter Gloss in shade Apple Crisp (Boots). For blusher, add a pop of colour back
into your skin with blusher applied to the apples of the cheeks. I love using muted pink colours to add definition to the cheek Try Cheek to Chic Blusher in Love Glow or Rimmel Lasting Finish Mono Blush Pink Rose.
