There’s an app for everything these days, isn’t there? From apps for keeping fit to practising mindfulness, there’s sure to be one that meets your need. And if you’re pregnant… well there are simply loads!
‘appy’ Keep yourself
Every pregnant woman wants to keep an eye on her baby’s development, doesn’t she? Fortunately, thanks to the myriad of apps available now, you can monitor every aspect of your pregnancy: from your baby’s development to whatever pregnancy symptoms you’re experiencing. Naturally an app won’t take away your aches and pains, nor will it rid you of all of those pesky pregnancy niggles, but an app
gives you a handy ‘go to’ that can often put your mind at rest – particularly if it’s your first pregnancy. If you’re pregnant and want to download an app, then you
have a huge range to choose from – both free and paid for – regardless of whether you use an iPhone or Android. Here, we give you five of the best – and free! – apps that we’ve found to choose from.
BabyBump is already very popular with
mums to be, probably because it gives such a wide range of information – from pics of your
baby’s development to a personalised pregnancy countdown. You can also monitor your daily weight gain and symptoms. Basically it gives you everything you need for the nine months and, even better, it’s completely free!
I’m Expecting is
another must-have app. It pretty much offers the
same services as BabyBump –
including an excellent section on how to alleviate pregnancy
Sprout is a very sophisticated app that
again gives you added features such as a contraction timer and weight tracker, but also has some
Pregnancy Smiles is another app that provides you with an
excellent illustrated weekly update but also goes that extra
step with its baby name generator! When the time comes, it also possesses a contraction timer, which may make you feel more in
control of what’s happening! The fact that it’s on your phone means you’ll always have it with you even if baby decides to make a sudden appearance!
great extras, such as 3D images from the womb and heartbeat sounds from week nine. The app itself is free but some of these features are ‘add ons’ that you pay for. Nevertheless, well worth the money!
symptoms - but also provides you with the facility to take pics of your growing bump each week and create a slideshow!
Many of you are probably fans of the
worldwide bestseller ‘What to Expect When You’re
Expecting’ by Heidi Murkoff,
so you’ll be delighted to know that there’s an app to accompany the book!
Pregnancy Tracker from What to Expect – which is available from the iTunes store, comes with a due date calculator, great illustrations of your baby’s
development and a countdown to your due date. Everything you’d expect from the ‘global guide to pregnancy’.
