Even with launching the website I won’t need full-time childcare, so I’m very lucky in that respect. I don’t want to be away from my kids at all and I’m very grateful for the fact that I have been fortunate enough to be able to stay at home for the last six years

> has also been very enjoyable. Now, with the two older ones away

for part of the day (Elsie gets picked up at 12pm and Harrison in the afternoon), I’m back home for 9.15 every morning, so that’s the time for me to take Gracie to the park or to the leisure centre next door for a swim. I like to burn off her energy – and mine – with something that’s physically beneficial. ‘Even with launching the website I won’t need full-time childcare, so

I’m very lucky in that respect. I don’t want to be away from my kids at all and I’m very grateful for the fact that I have been fortunate enough to be able to stay at home for the last six years, but I definitely feel that I would like to be interacting more with adults during the day. When you become a mum you certainly undergo a massive transformation and you fall into a lifestyle where your life totally revolves around every moment with your kids. You have moments that make you laugh, that make you cry… such as when they reach a milestone – say their first word or take their first step. I’m so glad that I was able to be here for this mixture of emotions and that I was able to spend so much of my children’s first years with them. They’re my favourite people bar none but, at the same time, I have sometimes

found myself craving adult company. While I’m no longer the party girl that I was, I definitely love having girlie conversations with friends and just enjoying adult humour. It’s been a real mixture of emotions. Before you have kids you have nothing else to compare it with, so every moment is special, but I think I’ve now reached a stage where I’d like to blend both parts of my life a little more. ‘As I said, I won’t need to have full-time

childcare and can just pick and choose the hours that I’ll work, so it will be more a case of me fitting in with my children’s routines but still getting to develop some of my interests. The idea of the lifestyle website (pamelaflood.ie) has been churning around in my brain for some time and it’s great to now be able to develop it. It will be a mix of children’s issues, fitness stories and cooking ideas, so I’ll be developing all of my own interests and hoping that it will appeal to other mums too. Over the last while, I’ve been edging myself slowly back into work by writing so I’ve been dusting down the brain cells and getting my brain back into gear! I’ve been making inroads into some projects so the next year will be an exciting one in terms of seeing where all of this leads. I’ll still, of course, help out at the restaurant because I love doing that, but I also love to come home and see my children’s gorgeous faces. I’m one very lucky woman!’
