There are so many special moments in a baby’s first year, aren’t there? So many moments that you wish you could relive time and time again. Well, with great photographs you can do just that!
Capturing your baby’s first year
Let’s dream for a moment. Let’s think about the first moment you lay eyes on your newborn… Or about the first time they yawn or rub their little noses… Or the first time they look back at you and recognise you as
their parent... It’s difficult to put into words the bond that is created at those
moments, but, fortunately, thanks to award-winning Belfast photography studio, Peter Thomas Photography, you can have lasting reminders of those beautiful moments. For the last six years, the studio has been successfully
photographing newborns and, due to demand, recently began running a photography package called ‘Baby’s First Year’, which includes sessions at important stages of baby’s first year. ‘We understand how quickly newborns change,’ says baby
photographer, Stacey Irvine, who is the current Northern Ireland Baby & Newborn Photographer of the Year. ‘When you capture a baby’s entire first year, you really see them grow through all their stages and can highlight the moments when they’re sound asleep, then sitting all on their own and even capturing their interests around their first birthday.’ It’s not all serious work in the studio though - there are plenty
of laughs too! In fact, everybody in the Peter Thomas Photography team has had a few ‘moments’! On one occasion, Stacey had to go and buy a new pair of jeans after a little one went to the toilet all over her, so now, she always ensures that she has an extra change of clothes - just in case! Stacey feels that some of the best sessions are when the
parents make the shoot ‘personal’. Recently, for example, a couple brought a vintage suitcase to the session, and when the baby was placed in the suitcase, it emphasised just how small and delicate he was. There’s no doubting how much Stacey loves the newborn sessions. ‘Over the years,’ she says, ‘I’ve come to enjoy the times when
parents come to the studio initially fretting over the baby’s mood and then, afterwards, hearing them say how glad they were that they persevered! So many beautiful moments are captured and

their faces just light up when they see the images during the viewing session.’ If you’d like your baby to be photographed by this award-
winning photographer, simply book a Baby’s First Year session at Peter Thomas studio by calling 028 9075 6705. The studio is open Tuesday - Saturday.
Tips for your newborn photography session
• Ensure that your baby is in a deep sleep - this allows Stacey to position baby without disturbing him or her too much
• It is easier to photograph baby when they have a full stomach – so feeding before - and even during - their studio session is recommended
• Make it personal by bringing their own sleeping blanket or a treasured toy
• Sentimental items are great - a teddy that Grandma knitted, their first shoes, etc
• Be prepared to be included in the images! - It may help your baby to settle and will give you more options when you come back to view your images
• Clothe your baby with items that are easily removed so they can be changed into baby wraps for their session
