UK’s First Certifi ed Technicians

Five members of the Lincolnshire-based 1 Stop Spas team have become the fi rst APSP Certifi ed Hot Tub Technicians in the UK. The engineers were the fi rst outside of North America to complete the new Certifi ed Hot Tub Technician (CHTT) course, hosted by SpaTech Training. The intensive program covers the essentials of servicing portable and permanently installed hot tubs and spas, and equipment repair and replacement. Upon completion of the program, delegates are eligible to take the CHTT exam to
become fully-fl edged certifi ed technicians. Chris Brady, CHTT tutor and Managing Director of SpaTech Training commented: “This specialist program is the fi rst of its kind in the UK and we’re delighted that the pilot course has been such a success. “The fi rst four candidates not only completed the CHTT course but also passed their independent exams and received their CHTT certifi cates and badges – which will be worn as a sign of their competence and professionalism within the industry.” SpaTech Training is an Association of
Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP) Certifi ed Training Provider for the UK and is also approved by BISHTA. The company provides a number of courses for the hot tub industry, covering technical, specialist and health & safety training.
More than 50 people within the industry have already registered to attend the CHTT course and sessions will begin in April. Chris added: “Hopefully this is a huge step forward and our mission of raising the professional bar for the industry.”
European Award Success
The UK dominated the Domestic Hot Tubs category at this year’s European Union of Swimming Pool and Spa Associations (EUSA) Awards, after a clean sweep by three British companies.
Complete Spas of Worcestershire took Gold, closely followed by Welsh Hot Tubs and Euphoria Lifestyle in Silver and Bronze position respectively.
The fourth EUSA Awards took place at the Forum Piscine exhibition, in Bologna, Italy in February, and recognised 15 winners across 14 EUSA member countries.
Winning Gold was a huge achievement for Complete Spas, who were eligible for entry into the EUSA Awards having previously been recognised for the same project in the British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association (BISHTA) Awards.
Husband and wife team Pete and Rachel Grinnall along with Offi ce manager Hannah Robinson were delighted to be able to travel to Italy to pick up the award.
The team commented: “It is such a great honour to be recognised for our work, not only at home but also at these European Awards.

CHEERS TO THAT Plans have been submitted for the world’s fi rst beer hotel featuring a beer- fi lled hot tub. The hotel is the brainchild of the Scottish duo behind the Brewdog brand of beer and will offer beer- themed spa treatments including malt massages.
DEALER EVENT
The Cal Spas annual dealer summit, Evolution 2017, took place in January. The two-day event welcomed dealers from across the world, who gathered together at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel before heading to Cal Spas Corporate Headquarters.
