Swimming Pool Scene RESIDENTIAL POOL SCENE
MODERN MASTERPIECE
This unique dual-aspect swimming pool was named Outstanding Pool of the Year at the recent SPATA awards and earned Portrait Pools a top level Gold award. The Macclesfi eld-based pool company was approached by the contractor of a new private gated community to design and build a bespoke swimming pool for each of the fi ve properties within the development.
The brief was simple; each pool had to be amazing. Andrew Rutherford, Director of Portrait Pools explains: “Originally this client wanted an indoor pool. We built the pool shell and the client then started to consider an outdoor pool so we came up with the idea of building one pool to cover both aspects.

“We removed the end wall of the existing shell and extended it into the garden area to create an indoor/outdoor pool. We created a moving wall which lowers to enable both pools to become one. “The wall comes up to meet the glass doors to ensure total security and the indoor pool is then separated from the outdoors, making this a pool that can be enjoyed all year no matter what the weather brings.”
The water features help to create ambiance within the pool hall overlooking the property’s stunning grounds. When the doors are across and the dividing wall is in place, the indoor pool is a secluded asset to the home. Open the doors and lower the automatic wall and the whole area changes, bringing the outdoors in.
