The UK fi nds itself in an economic state of fl ux which has inevitable impact on all sectors of water leisure business.

The good news is that the UK’s rate of economic growth is higher than previously forecast, defying the predictions of gloom by remain supporters before the Brexit vote. Although the effects of leaving the EU are yet to be felt.

The elephant in the room is the defl ated value of the pound triggering 20% price increases generally but with promises of rebates should there be an improvement in rates.

Business is booming in both swimming pool construction and renovation with a particularly strong start to the year. But with National Insurance set to rise to 10% next year and 11% in 2019, it is no wonder potential employers are hesitating to commit to increased staff. In effect, this means companies are setting a self-imposed glass ceiling on their permance prospects.

Budgets aside, while it is still too early to predict, we have everything crossed for a glorious summer of warm sunshine to boost the feel good factor.

To put you in the mood, we dive into the UK’s holiday park pools, as many operators rush to get their pools up and running in time for the main holiday season. There’s also a special report on pool servicing and reviews and pictures from this year’s SPATEX show.

We hope you enjoy the April issue of Swimming Pool Scene and don’t forget to keep in touch via social media @poolandspascene on Twitter and @poolandspa.scene.1 on Facebook.

Take care,
