MEMBER ZONE MEMBERPROFILE NAME: Ogo Ogbata
COMPANY: Creativity and Sense Consulting JOB TITLE: Founder/Director
WHAT DOES YOUR COMPANY DO? We specialise in personal, team and market leadership development using creative thinking. We call this 360 degree leadership development for more impact and income. We work with clients globally and run live events and online events.
HOW DID IT ALL START? I'm a natural public speaker and I've always been interested in writing and teaching. In the corporate world, I went on training courses run by inspiring trainers and I knew that was what I wanted to do too. I also yearned to run my own business.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST RISK YOU'VE EVER TAKEN – AND DID IT WORK OUT? The biggest risk was starting my own business. You have to make sacrifices but the risk was worth taking because the business is going well.
WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT? I'm often thinking about how we can do things differently and creative ways to solve problems so that can keep me awake (if I don't shut down properly).
WHAT HAS SURPRISED YOU MOST IN YOUR JOB? Starting my own business was like entering a different world and I felt at one point that my creative background was a hindrance. For example, I think many creative people struggle with the idea of selling. What has surprised me is finding out that by changing my mindset, all that creativity has become a huge asset. I really enjoy consultative selling now.
WHAT EXCITING PROJECTS IS YOUR BUSINESS WORKING ON? We are hosting The Inspire in Business evenings in Northampton and London - which give businesses the opportunity to hear top talks from business leaders in the region, enjoy Q&As, conversational networking plus drinks and canapes! One of our guest experts is Andrew Loake - director of the multi-million pound global brand Loake Shoemakers.
WHAT MADE YOU JOIN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CHAMBER AND HOW ARE YOU MAKING USE OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP? I'd thought about joining for a while but wasn't sure if it was right for me. Then Sunny, the Chamber's business development executive, reached out to me and went through what the Chamber had to offer so I decided to go for it. I have been really impressed by how friendly and helpful the Chamber is. I've built up my Profile page and attended several networking events. I also like the idea of seminars led by members for members and will be delivering my first one in July. I think the marketing and PR side of things is fantastic.
