Young entrepreneurs shine at finals
The Haines Watts’ Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition 2016 has culminated in an exciting finals
Dan Greenall of Oxford Vapours was the overall winner and the other finalists were: Ahmed Yar Khan and Allahyar Khan of AKD Facilities Management; Darren Chadwick of Brite Green; Reni Reis of Electric Mania and Richard and Tim Woods of Yomp Marketing.
Dan Greenall explained that he started his company, Oxford Vapours, to sell products which would help people stop smoking. His entrepreneurial spirit started at the age of 13 when he sold confectionary and drinks at school to earn some pocket money and he intends to move into the property market in the future.
There was a wide range of industry sectors represented: AKD Facilities Management provides guarding, keyholding, professional cleaning and maintenance services; Brite Green is a sustainability strategy consultancy, working with companies on environmental and social issues; Electric Mania is an online retailer of consumer items like electronics, household appliances and baking products; and, Yomp Marketing is a digital marketing agency.
Simon Biltcliffe, who founded and is MD of Webmart, a world-leader in print management, was guest judge, joined by Haines Watts’ judges Jane Gregory, Jane Wills, Rodney Style, Kapil Davda and Peter Wright.
After the ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentations, Simon Biltcliffe and Sean Taylor (CEO of Redwood Technologies), spoke to the finalists about their personal business experiences as entrepreneurs and highlighted opportunities and challenges.
The finalists all received a year of free mentoring with Haines Watts’ partners and a ‘Marketing Mastermind Day’ as part of their prize, along with cheques for £250 and free publicity. Winner, Dan Greenall, won a total cash prize of £1,000.
