Innovation Award

The judges were specifically looking for innovators and problem solvers who offer leading-edge solutions and services.

Winner: Volume Global

A global provider of award-winning technology, innovation, and digital content in a future-ready format, Volume is responding proactively to industry demand for advanced-technology business solutions. Working with a core set of smart- machine services, Volume’s solutions leverage the emerging fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive learning.

What the judging panel said . . .

Announcing the award-recipients, Sean Taylor, managing director of leading cloud communications technology provider Redwood Technologies and chair of the judging panel revealed: “The judges were impressed by the use of machine intelligence – aiming to replicate the human brain via a computer – to deliver interactive and engaging services across areas such as consumer helplines.”

. . . and comments from the award-winner

Volume Global chief executive Chris Sykes said: “We’re very proud to receive this award. It means everything for our team who have worked so hard to get to where we are – the only company globally that has three IBM Watson verified applications in the market. The fact that we are doing all this from Wokingham and I have hugged the CEO of IBM is just a dream come true.

“You might look at AI as technology but it’s not just that, it is about human interaction. It is about how we create the personalities for these machines to act like humans – not to replace our jobs, but to take over mundane and repetitive job aspects and allow us to take on higher value interactions.”

The joint runners-up were . . . Centerprise

A highly respected IT solutions supplier established over 34 years ago – and a real British success story. It has developed a steadfast reputation for delivering large scale IT projects within the business, defence, education, government, corporate, B2B and healthcare sectors.

The judges were impressed by Centerprise’s application of newer technologies such as cloud computing to transform traditional, typically very conservative, public-sector services.

Zyme

A channel data management (CDM) cloud platform that provides actionable, decision-grade intelligence to enterprises, so they can accelerate and increase their channel sales and optimize marketing ROI. With a channel directory of more than two million partners, Zyme processes over one billion transactions annually in 150 countries. Customers include Dell, Microsoft, Symantec and VMware.

Judges’ view: “Zyme spotted a new market opportunity to evaluate the performance of resellers in the sales chain.”
