Taylor Made Computer Solutions sponsors
Business Person of the Year
This new award category was seeking individual owners or managers of successful SMEs, best able to demonstrate a strong business influence, entrepreneurial and leadership skills, and effective strategic initiatives.
Winner: Clive Nation, CEO of Cennox
Nation started his Camberley banking services business with just six vans, focusing on the local ATM market. Over the past 10 years the company has grown dramatically and now has 500 staff globally assisting many of the world’s leading banks, by delivering machine and parts repair, branding and security services.
How the judges described the winner
Joe Jeffers, finance director of Taylor Made Computer Solutions, said the judges saw Nation as “an outstanding entrepreneur and CEO, a person leading from the front who has achieved dramatic growth.
“This business leader is a driven individual, a first-class communicator, deploying strategic initiatives in the UK and now further afield, taking advantage of market and geographical growth opportunities.”
What makes a winning individual?
Modestly, Nation said: “A lot of people that are better than I am – a great team behind me.”
Industry experience, knowledge and understanding have been important too. “The key to our growth has been in convincing UK and US banks that we were credible, innovative and could bring a new dimension to their industry. The banking world is changing enormously with automatic and mobile payments, etc. It’s a different world to live in and Cennox is part of that transformation.”
