TVBMA sets another new level of success

The Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards was making its own headlines, announced David Murray, awards chairman and publisher of The Business Magazine, as he welcomed 350 guests to the region’s 22nd annual night of celebration

“We are delighted to see you here at the annual culmination of our premier awards scheme, now marking an unbroken run that makes our event the longest-running business awards in the Thames Valley.”

Of course, every announcement of the category awards for 2016 was making its own industry headlines as well. For example, two delighted winning companies both took home two much-prized awards, and one winner received a two- minute standing ovation.

But, as Murray told the expectant gala-dinner audience at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre in Reading, simply attending as a shortlisted finalist of the prestigious Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards is a major achievement of which to be proud

“You are here because your company or organisation has proved itself one of the very finest, best-run businesses in the buoyant Thames Valley. We are blessed with doing business in one of – if not the – fastest-growing regions in the country.”

All good news, despite Brexit uncertainties, said Murray,

for all local businesses, including the award sponsors – ActionCOACH, Grundon Waste Management, Hays, James Cowper Kreston, NatWest, Pitmans, Redwood Technologies, and Taylor Made Computer Solutions – whom he thanked for their enthusiastic involvement and support.

Guest speaker and presenter Gyles Brandreth guided the evening’s proceedings with charm and boundless humour for “the amazing business people of the Thames Valley; the most thrusting, achieving business community in the British Isles.”

Brandreth also revealed several quirky insights from his award-winning career portfolio, which includes royal biographies, two volumes of diaries, being an MP, and appearances on countless TV and radio shows.

Plus, the evening enjoyed the dulcet tones of BBC announcer Alan Dedicoat, the National Lottery ‘Voice of the Balls’, providing live introductions of each finalist.

One surefire winner was Thames Valley Air Ambulance, the Business Awards chosen charity for the evening, which received £3,085 in donations from generous attendees.
