Quesada Bowls Club Report sponsored by Spanish Life Properties

We are now nearly half way through the first half of our league season and it is pleasing to report that our league teams are doing very well.

At the time of writing our Pearls triples team is leading the South Alicante League A Division by a margin of 18 points which is very gratifying, and our Diamonds in C Divisions are ahead with a margin of 14 points. In the Southern League the Swallows are currently in second place only 3 points behind the league leaders.

Last month saw us win through to the Semi Finals of the Premier 20 knockout competition, having achieved a great win against our sister club, La Marina.

Three of our club members, Pete and Lisa Bonsor and Carol Broomfield, are currently representing Spain in the World Bowls Championships taking place in New Zealand, and so far the first few days of the competition have seen our Spanish team performing well, given that they will be competing in the Championships against many well known names from the professional bowling world.

Recently we held our President v Captains match, with the Vice-President standing in for our President, George Radmore, following the sad death of his wife Audrey. On this occasion the Captain took the honours, in what was a very friendly morning of bowls. This was followed by refreshments in The Club.

Our Saturday morning ‘Chicken Drive’ is open to visitors. Players wishing to take part should report at 9.45am for a 10am start.

For more information about our club please contact our membership secretary Joe Riley on 96 572 5787 or email joediriley@gmail.com. New bowlers are welcome and introductory coaching is available.
