Much as I try I just cannot get to grips with Hoddle's use of the English language. He talks in triangles using three words or phrases... 'its fabulous position'... followed by 'a perfect diamond' and completed with ...'he completed the set play'. To top it all he actually said in a recent game 'They are sitting ducks standing there' - I rest my case.
8. Having just moved house I do have to wonder just how many times I am liable for tax. On the move we paid what seemed to
be a lot of money for a transaction tax... and a local town hall tax. When we commenced repairs and alterations to the house we had to pay for local works licences
...yet another tax on top of the general IVA tax paid on all the new things we bought for the house. Now I understand the adage about Taxes and Death but for Heaven's sake it must stop sometime... or must it!
9. It would be amiss of me would it not if I were to not have a wonder about the consequences of Brexit. If you have read my views before you will know that I am a confirmed Europhile... I live here on a permanent basis, a foreigner among the Spanish populace. I enjoy my life here and do hope that the ongoing Brexit talks, when they get going, happen in a civilised and constructive manner.
10. Having just sat and watched the British Chancellor spew out the Autumn statement... I really do wonder just how many times the same garbage can be preached from the dispatch box year after year. This statement did what they all do... quite simply it was just a rehash of past statements.
When will Britain find a politician of conviction... someone who puts into practice what they preach? Quite honestly it's about time

that a time limit was put on how long an individual can remain in politics... it's about vocation and not about a cushy life at the taxpayers' expense.
11. Almost done for another year...a year of much turmoil and suffering for a large part of the World's population. While us fortunate people enjoy the spirit of Christmas and the love and comfort of our families please share a thought for the people in Aleppo and the people in other war zones around the world. Remember also Mother Earth and the environment, and last but not least be kind and care for our domestic and farmed animals. A measure of a person can be gleaned by the compassion a person shows for all living things.
12. The wonder of the universe to you all at Christmas... enjoy yourselves and allow yourselves to wonder about the sheer majesty of life and the wonderful World we inhabit.
