Hi All.
One of the most popular bands to emerge, entertaining on the local circuit is Ges Rogers Union Gap.
For those of us old enough to remember, the song Young Girl by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap topped the UK charts back in 1968. The group went on to have more success over the next few years, but disbanded in the early 1970s. In 1974, Young Girl was re-released and was back in the charts yet again. Gary Puckett embarked on a major tour, including Britain, but without his original band. For his UK tour a new Union Gap was formed, which included drummer Ges Rogers. Ges, (now living in Spain), was asked to sit in with Woody and the Peckers for a gig last year, and during their performance, Woody primed the audience that they had an ex Union Gap drummer filling in for the night. Inevitably, the hit single Young Girl was requested. The band did an impromptu version of the song and the audience loved it. After the reaction they received, it was suggested that they should put a Union Gap Tribute Band together. After months of intense rehearsals to create the right orchestral sounds and vocal harmonies, they were ready to "hit the road"! Ges Rogers Union Gap performed their first show to a sell out crowd in Almeria.
Since then the band has gone from strength to strength, performing up and down the coast from Almeria to Moraira.... Every show a sell out! The icing on the cake for the band was their last sell out show at a theatre in Moraira, where they were brought back for 2 encores and received a standing ovation at the end of the show. The line up of this new and exciting tribute band is: Gary "Woody"
Woodward...Guitar / Vocals. Peter "Chippy"
Fryer...Bass / Vocals. Izzy Guy -
Morgan...Keyboards / Vocals. Gerard "Ges" Rogers... Drums / Vocals. If, like me, you enjoy a musical trip back in time, I'm certain you will really enjoy the band. The band members are also involved in other musical projects so they get together specifically to present this tribute show. Highly recommended - but don't forget to book to see them in advance to avoid disappointment.
Well, all that's left is for me to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous New Year.
