What is your role at the Chamber? I look after the Chamber’s networking calendar by putting on events, which include anything from breakfast events to large black tie evenings and everything in between. Our varied events aim to provide networking opportunities to suit all of our member needs.
What is the best part of your job? I absolutely love meeting new people at events, as well as catching up with regular attendees. The feeling you get from putting on a great event that everyone enjoyed is incredible!
What are your aims for Chamber events over the next 12 months? We are expanding the Chamber events calendar quite significantly, with the help of our new events co-ordinator we are excited to add more events that members want to our calendar. My role will be looking after the large iconic events and I’m excited to see how big we can go with some events, such as the Devon Chamber Awards and Spring Dinner.
What did you do before working at the Chamber? I was a student! The Chamber was my first ‘proper’ job after graduating, and my role has adapted completely since starting at the Chamber. I’m so grateful for the experience that I’ve gained since joining the team.
What do you do when you’re not at work? I am a bit of a gym bunny, so I’ll often be in the gym but aside from that I like to spend time with family and catch up with friends.

Awards night is a fantastic display of regional excellence
Businesses from across the county were celebrated at Devon Chamber of Commerce’s second annual awards ceremony on Friday 16 September. With over 120 people in attendance guests enjoyed a spectacular night of Willy Wonka-themed entertainment at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth as the Chamber awarded business success in Devon. Sponsored by Cosmic, Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, Redrok, City College Plymouth,
Cornwall College Business, Plymouth Citybus and Ashfords the awards covered ten categories, including Business Personality of the Year, Exporter of the Year, Excellence in Customer Service and a Chairman’s Award for Special Contribution. George Cowcher, Chief Executive of Devon Chamber of Commerce, said: “Awards are
incredibly important in recognising business success. The Chamber would like to thank Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, City College Plymouth, Ashfords LLP, Cornwall College Business and Redrok UK for supporting the Devon Chamber Awards 2016. In light of the recent political upheaval and uncertainty felt across the business community awards and occasions that celebrate the positive work being done across the county are incredibly important. The Chamber will continue to champion businesses in the county, representing Devon’s business views at a national level via the British Chamber of Commerce network and lobbying to improve conditions to make Devon a great place to live, work and do business. On behalf of the Chamber, I would like to congratulate all of the award winners and finalists celebrated on the evening.”
