Paignton Zoo collaborated with Lynch Motors to convert one of their iconic miniature trains to run on electricity through the use of rechargeable batteries. The miniature train was previously powered by a petrol engine. In addition, Lynch Motors were able to help colour-


match the unit, which has now been painted in yellow and blue as Mo Smith, the Paignton Zoo Train Driver, is a proud supporter of Torquay United. Being one of the first ever commercial miniature

be far cheaper to run, greener and more environmentally friendly as well as being far quieter when compared with the old engine. The iconic train dates back to the late 1930s, so Lynch Motors have helped give the old train a new lease of life. With ten and a quarter inch gauge tracks, which run


a third of a mile around Paignton Zoo's lake, the tiny train averages just over 80 miles a week during the peak summer seasons and around 120,000 visitors take a ride every year.
