Chamber welcomes chartered surveyors


New Chamber member, Gemstock Chartered Surveyors is run by Richard Wood MRICS, a specialist in dilapidations. Gemstock is a RICS regulated niche practice providing specialist dilapidations expertise, combined with related landlord and tenant and building surveying advice for businesses and clients in the south of England and their properties throughout the UK. Gemstock’s main services include dilapidations, landlord and tenant advice and building surveying. Richard’s specialism in dilapidations began in 1997


when he joined a real estate team at CBX to help look after Xerox’s UK and Ireland Property portfolio. He went freelance from 2002 to 2005 and then, after a brief 18-month stint in residential surveying, he


returned to the commercial sector when he joined Drivers Jonas in 2007 as Associate Director in the lease advisory department. Drivers Jonas became part of Deloitte LLP in 2010. In 2013, Richard went part time and set up his own firm. The company is named after Mount Gemsstock in Andermatt, Switzerland, where Richard led ski holidays for five years for the Ski Club of Great Britain. Whilst Gemstock Chartered Surveyors has a primary


focus on the needs of occupiers, the company’s insights as occupier advisers allows it to cater to the needs of owners and landlords when the opportunity arises.
