Mayfield Riders start the eventing season as they mean to go on!

Mayfield riders kicked off the eventing season at the Woodbridge Inter-Schools ODE at Poplar Park Suffolk with a fantastic performance culminating in a convincing team win, a number of individual wins, and an unprecedented level of success with every single rider achieving an individual placing!

The team of Daisy Tod, Catherine Haurie‐Moss, Anna Martin and Valentine Emsens beat schools from all over East Anglia to finish first overall, while the other Mayfield team of Emma Jenkins, Katie Higgins, Georgia Thomson and Kitty Ashby also rode very well to come fourth overall.

Particular congratulations are due to Anna Martin who won her section, to Daisy Tod who came second in hers, and to Immie Long who stormed to victory in the Open section with a very convincing win.

Director of Riding, Jill Barker commented “To come away from our first event of the season with individual placings for every single rider is an amazing achievement, and one which is very well‐deserved. I am delighted that the girls’ hard work over the long and gruelling winter is already paying off and this bodes well for a very successful season!”

U14s show their mettle at International Festival of Netball

Podium finish at British Schoolgirls' Ski Races in Flaine

Maisie Mahoney,Maisie Webb and Catherine Haurie‐Moss travelled to the British Schoolgirls' Ski Races in Flaine to represent Mayfield in February. They successfully completed their six races including giant slalom, parallel slalom and slalom, with no falls, blue skies and lots of fun!

To top it all off, Catherine Haurie‐Moss skiied exceptionally well to secure a bronze medal in the U14 combined category. This is a fantastic achievement, especially on her first attempt!

During the Easter holidays the U14 Netball squad travelled to the International Junior Netball Festival at Disneyland Paris. The girls enjoyed three full days of netball, incorporating matches with coaching sessions and workshops, and still managed to find the time to explore the theme park and make the most of the Disneyland rides!

The Festival culminated in a tournament on the final day. The girls played exceptionally well throughout the day and finished in fourth place out of forty schools.

This was followed by a glamorous awards ceremony, at which captain Isabelle Brattle was delighted to collect a trophy from a member of the England netball team!

American Exchange pupils conclude that Mayfield is AMAZING!

For the last few weeks of term, we were delighted to welcome two special visitors, Maggie and Elise, from our sister school in Anaheim, California. They were welcomed warmly into the Year 11 community and settled in almost immediately. It was fantastic introducing them to the sights of London, and the village of Mayfield, where some of the buildings are older than the USA itself.

The girls got to shadow one girl each during the day, following them, and experiencing what Year 11 at Mayfield is like. In the evening, they stayed with one of the boarders in Gresham House, seeing a different side of our School. According to them, the experience was “amazing”, and we hope to continue our exchanges with their school in the future.
