AWARDS PROPERTY COAST
SOUTH A must-attend annual
celebration of the South Coast property market
Gala launch of awards honouring real estate professionals
“We are here to celebrate property on the South Coast – both commercial and residential – and to recognise the achievers – both firms and individuals – who have stood out in the past year,” announced David Murray, publisher of The Business Magazine, as he welcomed more than 360 ‘black-tie’ diners to this inaugural gala awards event at the Hilton Ageas Bowl.
“This very first South Coast Property Awards has been an eagerly anticipated evening that we have every confidence will become quickly established as the property event in the Solent region’s calendar.
“The Business Magazine is delighted to be running these awards and to bring you all together – developers, agents, planners, builders, consultants, property lawyers, dealmakers – for this special night that is in itself a testament to the vibrancy of the South Coast property market.
“One has only got to look at the development plans for cities such as Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth, to look at all the exciting projects underway, to know that there are some very positive things happening in property within this region.
“We all know that there are uncertainties ahead. The Brexit vote has led to the freezing of three UK property funds, and there’s a nervousness about the commercial property sector – particularly with investors.
“However, tonight is all about success – and it’s going to be great to put all this instability out of our minds and focus on the positives in both the commercial and residential markets.”
Murray was quick to acknowledge that the South Coast Property Awards would not have got past the planning stage without the support of its sponsors: Barton Willmore, Blake Morgan, Coffin Mew, CoStar, Dutton Gregory, JLL, Lester Aldridge, McCarthy & Stone, NatWest, Smith & Williamson and Vail Williams.
“I would also like to especially thank the Southampton, Bournemouth and Portsmouth Property Associations for embracing these awards and ensuring their members have participated,” he added.
There was also a special mention to commercial property data providers CoStar for assisting the judging process, by canvassing agents, promoting the awards, and generally helping “fly the flag for the South Coast Property Awards.”
The judging panel was wholeheartedly congratulated for its professional skills and knowledge in “doing its homework and carefully scrutinising the nominations”, before selecting the finalists and winners.
One of those winners was already known of course. The event’s chosen charity of the night – The Rainbow Centre, which helps children and adults with cerebral palsy, MS, Parkinsons, stroke and head injury to lead more active independent and full lives. Generous guests donated a total of £3,607.60.
Guest presenter on this auspicious evening was mysteriously introduced as a local man, with strong links to the area, a Southampton FC fan born in Havant, and something of a racing certainty as a former F1 and Le Mans driver.
He is now a motoring journalist, and television presenter, notably for Fifth Gear and before that Top Gear, Tiff Needell was welcomed to the stage.
