Team Canada OPEN - Off the field and onto the “greens”

Being in one spot, with all the team Canada players, under the same self-imposed “Canada House” building was certainly an experience. For the most part, we got the chance to decompress as a nation to discuss our shortcomings and celebrate the victories. When not immersed in an ultimate- focused train of thought we had a lot of fun playing spikeball and soccer in the quad.

We also spent a considerable amount of time playing a card game called Golf with high hopes of qualifying for our version of the “Masters.” For those less familiar

with the game: Golf is a card game, in which the object is to score as little as possible, as in real Golf. Players improve their scores by drawing new cards to replace unwanted cards. Each deal is seen as the equivalent of a hole of Golf. This actually took up hours of our day-to-day off-field shenanigans.

When not on the proverbial “greens” we took to immersing ourselves in watching EuroCup and British dating reality television, most notably Love Island. More about Love Island to come.

WOMEN - Keeping busy off the field - Reality TV, Spikeball and more great games of Spikeball.

Even with only one or two games a day there is surprisingly little down time while at worlds between cheering on other TC teams, eating and napping.

We did however manage to find time for some non-ultimate related activities such as watching Love Island - a very entertaining British reality TV show that was on every single night while we were in England (the drama between Kady and Scott was just too much not to miss). We kept up to date with Game of Thrones on the projector in the common room (the perfect episode to watch that epic battle scene on the big screen). We embarked on a very competitive game of water flip cup during one of the many rainstorms and even took on the open team in some

When we weren’t watching Love Island, playing spikeball or hiding from the crazy rainstorms, you could find us hanging out in our team plaid preparing to take on the world!
