Letter from the Editor


This year in London at the World Ultimate Guts Championships, I had the chance to attend the WFDF world congress, a meeting of the global ultimate minds, if you will. It was an amazing experience to watch the movers and shakers from all major national organizations in their element talking about the disc sports they love.


It reminded me that no matter what ultimate event or tournament I attend, there are hundreds if not thousands of people helping to make it happen. Volunteers, staff, broadcast partners and sponsors work tirelessly to help enhance the experience of the athletes. The WFDF congress inspired me to appreciate all the little things that happen to make our sport so great. With all the mushy stuff out of the way, let’s move onto our special summer edition of the UCM.


We have a feature-heavy edition this summer with in-depth pieces littered throughout the issue. We take you off the field and into Team Canada’s personal life in London at the 2016 WUGC. Scores and stats can all be found online, but we have some fun anecdotes from players from their ‘down time’ at worlds. Our back pages feature two articles highlighting the success of some of Canada’s youth. Make sure to flip back there to get the full scope.


As usual, our regional stories section gives the reader a tour from west to east checking out all the player success, youth and masters initiatives and more. Our comprehensive CUC coverage will give you a division-by-division break down of the action to come this week.
