ART HAWkINS GREAT CANADIAN ULTIMATE GAME The longest annual ultimate game expands international flavour
The 2016 Art Hawkins Great Canadian Ultimate Game kicked- off in Ottawa, Ontario Friday afternoon. The game moved out to the east coast and jumped its way through Newfoundland, Ontario, the Northwest Territories, and British Columbia before going overseas with Team Red leading Team White 136-126.
This year’s game had the most international stops ever, with games in Malaysia, Cambodia, the Republic of Ireland, and United Arab Emirates. Team Red continued its lead 179-165 when it came back to Canada on Saturday morning, with Dubai passing the score to Charlottetown, PEI.
Passing through Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario, the game moved west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in the afternoon, where the game saw its biggest score jump. Winnipeg incorporated the game into a local tournament, leading to nine games being played at once! Team White led 248-243 heading into Winnipeg and left leading 340-332.
