Women’s Masters - Expanded division leaves the door wide open

In May of this year, the competition committee set conditions for expanding the women’s masters division from six to eight teams. Two weeks later M*A*S*H, from Alberta, met the roster requirements allowing the division to fulfill the expansion requirements. It is important recognize the efforts of players across Canada in order to first create the division in 2013, with four teams, and the continued work to expand it to eight teams this August. The largest contingent is from Alberta with three teams:

DYNA, Throwback, and M*A*S*H. The Prairies send 2 teams with Mint from Winnipeg and Aurora from Saskatoon. The remaining 3 teams are: Eclipse (ON), Homegirl (BC), and X-Squad (QC). Of particular note is that last year’s champions, Vintage (QC), and runner-up, Terra (ON), are not in attendance. There is a high degree of parity between the teams this year, which leaves the door open to any of them to claim gold.
