Is hot weather a pain?

As much as we look forward to a long, hot summer, many of us with problem aches and pains can often experience more pain and discomfort at this time of year. The heat and humidity during summer months can provoke a flare-up of old injuries, as well as highlighting the onset of new ones. Heat can cause nerves to become more irritated which increases inflammation in surrounding tissues. This irritation can make routine movements like walking, lifting or bending more difficult.

This explains why sometimes, people experience aching shoulders or a stiff neck after travelling to warmer climates. Hours of sitting in airports and on planes, coupled with moving heavy luggage and even carrying small children, can result in some unexpected painful

joints.

No one thinks about a ‘swollen spine’. The spine is central to our general state of health. It is full of nerves, muscles and ligaments, connecting to all other parts of our body. Most spinal problems are associated with lower back pain. Repetitive strains (e.g. bending from the waist, instead of from the knee, awkward lifting angles or an incorrect seating position) can test our bodies to their limits.

Chiropractic Care from Dr Hans C Madsen DC Dr Madsen DC, a graduate from Palmer College, the fountainhead of Chiropractic, has over 35 years’ experience. He sees many patients suffering with back or joint pain. At his Chiropractic Clinic in Benijofar, during consultation and assessment, Dr Madsen offers the appropriate chiropractic treatment where possible, to free blocked areas and release trapped nerves, using chiropractic manipulation.

Laser Therapy Dr Madsen has developed his own unique laser systems, using very specific and varying levels of light energy to treat a wider range of injuries. The tissues and cells absorb this energy where it is used to accelerate the normal rate of healing and reduce inflammation. It brings vital nutrients and fluids to discs and cartilage, together with increased blood flow to the injured area.

Treatment for Osteoarthritis He also treats many people who have developed arthritis in their joints. With over 23 years’ experience using Shockwave; he is able to target the calcifications that build up around the affected joints. Shockwave therapy gradually removes this calcification which helps to release trapped nerves resulting in more movement and less pain. Patients are then treated with laser therapy, which helps to regenerate new cell growth.

If you need a check-up or have a pain that is not going away, come and talk to Dr Madsen, so you can enjoy your time in the sun. To find out more, please visit the website where it explains how the treatments work.
