Drew Nelson is now the master of his musical universe. He’s hoping to have a new album out by the end of the year, and he says to expect “all kinds of styles”. He’s relishing the opportunity to record it in his own home studio, away from distractions, deadlines and the pressures of the music industry. He has a new band, and refers to his band mates as “brothers”. It’s hard to come back from


a hiatus, especially in the music business, when peoples’ attention spans are pretty short. But Drew Nelson is very comfortable in his new skin. He calls himself a “more mature” player, and approaches this period as a “second life, but much calmer” than the first. “I’m fortunate in that I can sort of do what I want to do and not rely on it for a living, which can be very tough”.
