SWITZERLAND continued from page 21
country dirt roads. We finally turned around and rediscovered Wheelers Maple bush (not difficult as they tap at least 20,000 trees on 730 acres,) and then back onto the paved roads. We resumed our odyssey to search out the great gifts bestowed on us by the Ottawa valley, by voyaging down Cty. Rd. 509. We marveled at the undulating landscape of maple tree covered hills and valleys, as we roamed through Elphin, Snow Road Station and Ompah. On the other side of Ardoch, we spotted a hand painted sign to Spy Glass Cove, just another quirky “must visit” haberdashery of valley essentials. Clarendon Station zipped by and all too soon we were back on Hwy. 7 near Sharbot Lake and heading home. We grumbled about how short a day could be, but could not be seriously upset with such a great tour that this one turned out to be “cause ya just got to love touring the back roads of the valley”!
