All Good Dogs Come In Threes.
Beautiful photographs in an elegantly- designed book, Nice Nosing You is a decla- ration of love and gratitude to three rescue dogs.
On Christmas Day, 2009, the dogs
suddenly started barking, whining and then howling. At first, Elke Vogelsang thought that there was something going on outside. She was busy and tried to ignore them. When the dogs became more agitated, she let them out of the room and they ran to the bathroom door. Carsten, Elke’s husband, was unconscious in the bathtub. If they had waited only a few minutes more, he would have drowned. The diagnosis was a severe brain hem-
orrhage. During the weeks and months of uncertainty that followed, Elke tried to retain some sort of normalcy in the house- hold. She devised a ‘picture a day’ project while her husband recuperated in the hos- pital. She would bring the pictures to the
hospital and describe her days without him; focusing on how the dogs were doing. “Photography is a documentary
means, a creative outlet, a diary, a memory aid, an appreciation of beauty, and a heal- ing activity. I’m glad I had my family, friends, our dogs and photography to keep my mind busy,” said Elke. Yes, there are many stories of dogs sav-
ing human lives. This is Elke’s, as told through lovely photographs.
U Life + Dogs = Laughter.
Dream Big, Charlie Brown. Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang have been a part of our lives since October 2, 1950. The trivia and nuances of these characters cre- ated by Charles Schulz are equal parts entertaining and sentimental. In November, Twentieth Century Fox will release The Peanuts Movie, a fresh new story of the incredible friendship between an underdog and his dog. The animation, in 3-D, and colors are incredible. The storyline follows Charlie Brown in his determination to become a winner. Snoopy takes to the sky and continues to battle his lifelong nemesis. Will things be different for Charlie Brown this time around? Will he finally have the courage to meet the Little Red-Haired Girl? Watch the trailer at
