In dog we trust. The article in our spring issue about Bella, a senior dog adopted by Lauralee G. Westine and her husband Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, from Palm Harbor sanctuary, Canine Estates, generated quite a response from readers. Here are three of our favorite letters:

The article was wonderful. Sadly, Bella crossed over the Rainbow Bridge about a week or so before the article came out. Bella Boo was a gift. She was a funny, loving creature who thought she was the boss of the house. Now we have adopted a seven-year-old 85 pound Chocolate Lab who was used as a breeder dog. From one extreme to the other. Lauralee G. Westine, Esq., Palm Harbor

In your spring issue, you published an article regarding the Pinellas County Sheriff ’s Office rugs inscribed with In Dog We Trust. The article featured Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, his wife, Lauralee Westine, and their daughter, Lauren. I am an employee of the family and was very much impressed by the article, which actuately depicted their human side. I felt privileged to know Bella, who was welcomed into the family and ben- efited extensively by them. Bobbi Close, Tampa

A NEW SUBSCRIBER I recently subscribed to The New Barker after I saw an issue in my veterinarian’s office. Until I found that issue, I was not aware of your magazine. I read it while waiting for an appointment and enjoyed it very much. I came home and sent in a request for a subscription, and received an acknowledgment that my subscription would start with the summer issue. I think your magazine is great. Your

layout, art work, and articles, are so interesting and refreshing, compared to some of the other pet magazines that are on the market. Thank you so much. Lutitia Duvé, Dunedin

tonight we are interviewing to get Nikko, a 15-year-old Yorkie (shown above) who is almost blind and has three teeth. We realize that he may only have about another year to live, so we can handle that and give him a good home with our guys until he crosses the Rainbow Bridge Look what you’ve done!

Welcome To The World According To Arf.

A REGULAR VISITOR TO FLORIDA While not a resident of Florida, I do visit often and I am an avid dog lover. A friend gave me your magazine and I was impressed. I read many various dog magazines and the quali- ty/contents of yours rival national magazines. I like the bright and

colorful ads, the articles, tips, humor/funnies, pic- tures and events. I really

enjoyed perusing the magazine and wish you many more years of success. I will be sure to pick one up on my next trip (new quarter) to Florida. I only wish North Carolina had The New Barker. Karla Y. Meador - ifdogstalked

I gave my wife your magazine and she read the story, In Dog We Trust about Bella, the senior dog adopted from Canine Estates by Sheriff Gualtieri’s family. When she finished reading the article, she contacted Canine Estates and
