FLAVEL COFFEE CONCERT Sat 21 May @ 10.30am The Flavel Ensemble (directed by Helen Deakin) presents the 1st performance of Phil Watson’s new work “Tales from Narnia”. Scored for 2 flutes, 2 clarinets & cello, this wonderful Suite contains many of Phil’s trademark melodies, gorgeous harmonies & interesting textures. Also featuring items by local musicians Sue Hadow, Jess Heywood & Katrin Bentham.
WINTER’S TALE - THE ACTOR’S WHEEL Fri 27 May @ 7.30pm “A wild dedication of yourselves … To undiscovered waters, undreamed shores.” The Actor’s Wheel return with a re-telling of Shakespeare’s most enigmatic work of love, jealousy and redemption. Inventive and compelling storytelling by this truly unique ensemble.

NT LIVE - THE AUDIENCE Thu 9 Jun @ 7pm, Encore Sat 11 Jun @ 2pm Helen Mirren’s multi-award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II - returns to cinemas in celebration of the monarch’s 90th birthday. For sixty years, Queen Elizabeth II has met with each of her twelve Prime Ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. Through these private audiences, we see glimpses of the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped a monarch. These special encore screenings include an exclusive Q&A with Helen Mirren and director Stephen Daldry.
LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES Thurs 09 Jun @ 1.15pm A series of short recitals given by local musicians Co-ordinated by Helen Deakin. Claudia Alvarez Calderon (coloratura soprano) & Ekaterina Shetliffe (piano) present “A Russian Matinée” – a recital of beautiful songs from some of the great Russian composers of the Romantic period. A tribute to nature and love, enjoy a selection of Russian songs, and appreciate the original sound, as all works will be performed in their native Russian language.
FOLK AT THE FLAVEL – FAUSTUS Tues 21 Jun @ 7.30pm Faustus, one of the best bands in the UK, features three prominent folk musicians. Benji Kirkpatrick is a multi- instrumentalist specialising in guitar, bouzouki and banjo. Saul Rose is regarded as one of the best melodeon players in the UK. Fiddle player Paul Sartin is one half of the BBC Radio 2 Folk awards nominees Belshazzars Feast. Between them Faustus have racked up an impressive number of nominations at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards including best group. Faustus promise a great evening of music rooted in English tradition with superb storytelling.

VIEW POINTS 2016 Sat 28 May @ 7.30pm Presented by Dance in Devon and Exim Dance Company. View Points is back for its third year and this year will be bigger and better than ever. From Hip Hop to Contemporary, the night will be jam packed with explosive dance routines from Devon’s finest dancers. Including special performances by Dartmouth School of Dance and Dartmouth Academy Dancers plus local dance companies SpinDrift Dance Collective and Heather Walrond Company.
RSC LIVE – HAMLET Wed 08 Jun @ 7pm Hamlet has the world at his feet. Young, wealthy and living a hedonistic life studying abroad. Then word reaches him that his father is dead.
Returning home he finds his world is utterly changed, his certainties smashed and his home a foreign land. Struggling to understand his place in a new world order he faces a stark choice. Submit, or rage against the injustice of his new reality. Simon Godwin (The Two Gentlemen of Verona 2014) directs Paapa Essiedu as Hamlet in Shakespeare’s searing tragedy. As relevant today as when it was written.
ROH – WERTHER Mon 27 Jun @ 7pm, Encore 03 Jul at 2pm Jules Massenet | Opera in four acts Sung in French Based on Goethe’s novel The Sorrows of Young Werther, Massenet’s opera tells the story of the poet Werther’s hopeless love for Charlotte, who is committed to another man. The music is full of lyrical beauty, passion and emotional fervour, The Royal Opera’s Music Director Antonio Pappano returns as conductor and the production is directed by Benoît Jacquot. Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo stars as Werther, alongside Joyce DiDonato, who sings her first Charlotte.
