Dartmouth Castle Tea Rooms H

aving been closed for two months, the Dartmouth Castle Tea Rooms is now open every day under new

management. The tearooms, situated in the old lighthouse owned by the family, will be managed by mum and daughter duo, Ali and Leah. With a strong background in design, hospitality and outdoor catering, the family have transformed the establishment into a warm and welcoming venue, complete with rustic beach theme décor. “We’ve spent the last couple of months working long and tough days to create a café that we are hugely proud of and have managed to be eco friendly in doing so - everything here is reclaimed or homemade!” says Leah, who spent much of her childhood at the tearooms when it was under previous management. However, it’s not just the venue that has

had a total homemade refurb; with a focus on fair trade, organic, local ingredients and homemade goods, the menu now offers quality drinks and meals centred around

locally sourced ingredients. “It’s important for us that the Tea Rooms is not only part of the community but also gives back to the community. We’re trying to support the neighbourhood and its businesses and buy local ingredients as much as possible.” The tearooms serve hearty breakfasts

from 9am, a range of sandwiches, soups, paninis and other specials, plus a vast range of delicious homemade cakes and goodies.

new alc]ohol licence and plans for summer barbecues, tapas and acoustic music evenings

Even better, they offer a great selection for the vegetarian and gluten free diet too! The goats cheese and fig panini (with parma ham for the meat lovers) is absolutely mouth watering, as is the feta and spinach filo pie, served with a generous beetroot salad and crusty bread freshly baked the

night before. If you fancy something lighter, we’d recommend the savoury cream tea with cheese scones, local chutney and cream cheese to top it off or go traditional and enjoy the double scone Devonshire cream tea! The panoramic views from the tearooms

are breath taking making it a perfect year round location to boat watch, gaze out to sea or relax with friends and family. The warm and cosy atmosphere inside makes it perfect for the cooler months, whilst the outdoor seating means ample space for soaking up the summer sunshine. With the new alcohol licence and plans for summer barbecues, tapas and acoustic music evenings, the Dartmouth Castle Tea Rooms is sure to become a hot spot for the balmy weekend evenings!
