Things to consider with your lighting designer:

• Think about your furniture - maybe draw up a sketch of how you want the room to be laid out. This will help with any task lighting needed and also allow the designer to consider the general light. Within this, think about whether you’d like any artwork to be lit up? A well placed spotlight can really make the most of a beautiful painting. • Do you need all your lights on all the time? We often recommend the use of PIR (passive infrared) sensors to turn lights on and off based on light/movement - these are a great energy saver and work well both inside and out.

• Do you want to have any exterior lighting? If you have a beautifully landscaped garden, it seems a shame to lose it once the sun goes down. We have a huge range of lights specifically designed for gardens and outside spaces. Uplights on trees lining the driveway? Or decorative wall lights by the front door?

• Some rooms might be worth putting more consideration into – where do you spend the majority of your time? Would you like a decorative pendant in the hall or dining room? Do you want a specific reading light beside the bed? Do you need to be able to dim the living room lights to create an atmosphere in the evenings? All worth considering from the outset.

Lightmaster Control – Working hand in hand with the designers, specialising in the control of natural and artificial light, our control engineers are able to offer wireless and cabled solutions for your lighting requirements. We have great partnerships with Phillips Dynalite, Lutron, Rako and others who offer a huge range of switches, from a simple on/off, to a customer interface capable of controlling all your lighting into different settings at the touch of a button. Controlling natural light is just as important as creating artificial light. We offer a range of electric blinds and curtains which can be controlled using your main lighting switch, an app on your phone or even on a sensor which moves the blinds in relation to the sun. These blinds are not only great for privacy and daylight reduction; they also come in a range of stylish colours and finishes.

We also offer lighting supply to both private and trade customers. Our full range of LED lighting is available to order from Lightmaster Direct and our relationships with suppliers all over the world means there are literally millions of lighting options for your consideration. For example, if you wanted new LED fittings where your old halogen lamps had been - we can have a look at your room, send over details on a few different options and you can order your fittings directly from us.
