Deals shortlist Two high-profile flotations of successful technology companies are finalists in the 2016 Thames Valley Deals Awards

The initial public offering (IPO) of software and services firm Softcat, headquartered at Marlow, was considered a big success in November. Within an hour of the opening bell the shares had risen 20%.

Pricing its IPO on the London Stock Exchange at 240p a share, or £472 million, Softcat’s share price stood at 310.9 as we closed for press.

Sophos, the cyber security specialist, was the biggest IPO for a UK tech company on the London market. Valuing the company at £1 billion, the IPO was so important that it was even raised at government ministerial level.

With its shares priced at 225p

in the summer, the price as we closed for press stood at 227.9.

Judges have decided on the finalists for the Thames Valley Deals Awards. The shortlisted firms, deals and dealmakers were picked by the expert judging panel from a 500-strong entry pile.

The winners of each category will be announced at the gala awards night at Madejski Stadium, Reading, on Thursday, April 21.

For the dealmaker and deals categories, the judges’ votes will be weighted against the audience votes on the night – and the winners will emerge from the process.

A table of 10 costs £1,500 and individual seats are £160 excluding VAT. For tickets and further information email Libby Sharp, deputy events manager, at libby@elcot.co.uk
