• Val Buzzard, director of leading accountancy firm Whitley Stimpson, has qualified as a fully-registered trust-and- estate practitioner. She recently attained the STEP diploma in Trusts and Estates (England and Wales), which provides both an academic, and a professional qualification recognised by the industry. Buzzard joined Whitley Stimpson 19 years ago and became the firm’s first female partner in 2001. As well as work in trusts and estates she is audit compliance director for the firm, enjoys working with charities, and provides specialist advice
to international organisations setting-up in the UK and to UK organisations operating overseas.
• Independent property and construction consultancy Tuffin Ferraby Taylor (TFT) has announced a promotion and the appointment of a new member to its Guildford team. This is as part of its broader and continued strategic growth this year. Daniel O’Connor has been promoted to technical partner and will continue to focus on support for refurbishments and development at educational establishments. Susan Cotterill joins TFT from Explore Learning as head of finance in the branch. Managing partner Alan Pemberton said: “2016 is proving to be an exciting year at TFT. Time and time again we are attracting the finest talent in the sector, making promotions in our expert teams across our seven UK offices.”
• Bidwells, one of the UK’s leading property consultancies, with an office in Oxford and 12 further offices across England and Scotland, has expanded its building consultancy project management team by 16 to a current headcount of 27, six of whom are based in Oxford, 16 in Cambridge and five in London. The expansion is in response to significant business growth, with the firm reporting an increase in turnover from £1 million to £3.7m for its building consultancy division over the 18 months to the end of 2015. Over the next year, Bidwells is looking to recruit four to six new staff to further enhance the building consultancy team. • Richard Herring has been appointed as the new general manager at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre. Herring joined in October 2015 after 3 years of success as general manager of Motorsports for Compass Group UK and Ireland at Goodwood. Previous to this he worked for LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games) where he looked after the Rowing and Canoe Sprint venue, Eton Dorney. He is delighted to join the team at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre and grow the meeting events portfolio. “This is such a great venue with so many versatile spaces from 1-2-1 meetings to dinners for 400. As well as great space the venue offers exceptional menus and a very professional AV service after recruiting a new head chef and agreeing a partnership with a local AV company ITM.”

• Carter Jonas has continued to strengthen its Oxford office with the appointment of four new commercial and planning team members, bringing the office total to 95 people. Pictured from left, Kathryn Muncey has joined as an associate in the commercial consultancy and strategy team predominantly working on the Buckinghamshire County Council contract. She previously worked at Capita in Oxford as assistant head of estates. Ifti Maniar has joined as a senior planner in the planning and development team. He was previously a senior planner at West Waddy in Abingdon. Michael Doran has joined as an associate in the commercial team specialising in landlord and tenant advice, including rent reviews and lease renewals. He was previously a senior surveyor in the asset services team at CBRE. Clare Fleet, previously at Penny Sinclair, has joined the commercial property asset management team as assistant property manager.

• Marcus McCluggage, Sarah Potter and Helen Rogers of the Reading office of leading law firm Pitmans have all been promoted to partner. Oliver Pilkington and Bhaminee Sharma have been made partners in the London office. John Hutchinson, managing partner, said how delighted he was to make the announcement and added: “It’s a terrific achievement on their part.”
• CubanEight, the award- winning PR agency, is celebrating a strong start to 2016 with expansion of its team and move to a new office. The team has been expanded by 30% with the addition of Ellie Hawtin as business development manager, Cat Rees as office manager and Tracy Howard as financial controller. The company, which was recently named Outstanding Mid-Sized Consultancy at the CIPR PRide Awards, has moved to a new office at Bignell Park Barns in Chesterton, Oxford.
