Penningtons Manches invests to secure dominant position
Leading private wealth and technology law firm Penningtons Manches LLP has hired two new high-profile partners and two other directory- ranked lawyers to further strengthen the firm’s charities, private client and corporate teams in the Thames Valley
Alison Talbot is the new head of Penningtons Manches’ multi- disciplinary charities team comprised of sector specialists from across the firm’s six UK offices. The former head of Blake Morgan’s charities team, she will be joined by Phillip Collins, a directory-recognised legacy disputes expert, and Jane Robinson, who specialises in the administration of complex estates and trust funds for both private clients and national charity clients.

The team also deals with highly complex advisory work such as Charity Commission investigations, charity mergers and reorganisations, as well as contentious probate and other charity disputes.
The charities practice will work alongside the Thames Valley private client team headed by Caroline van Zyl, who specialises in estate planning, succession, tax and trusts. Recognised by The Legal 500 for her estate- related advice, Her clients include entrepreneurs, academics, business men and women and wealthy families seeking to optimise estate- planning opportunities.

New additions to the corporate and technology team
Senior corporate transactional lawyer, Nicola McConville, has joined Penningtons Manches’ top-ranked Thames Valley corporate team as a partner together with corporate lawyer Attilio Leccisotti. The team is recognised by the leading legal directories for its “work in life sciences and technology”.
McConville has more than 15 years’ experience of advising companies on all aspects of corporate law including the delivery of funding rounds and strategies for growth and realisation of value.

She has a particular interest in clean technology, life sciences, imaging and digital development and an impressive track record of working with technology companies, software incubator start-ups and spin-outs from Oxford University and regional science parks. Her expertise will further strengthen the Thames Valley offices’ key role in developing the technology practice within the firm’s ‘Golden Triangle’ of offices in London, Cambridge and Oxford.

Joanne Vengadesan, a commercial partner specialising in intellectual property, technology and privacy has also recently moved from the Basingstoke office to Reading to work more closely with other Thames Valley tech sector specialists.
Other new arrivals include corporate partner and ECM specialist, Ross McNaughton, who recently joined the firm’s Cambridge office from Paul Hastings. He will work closely with the existing equity capital markets teams in London, Reading and Oxford.
Last but not least, Penningtons Manches' award-winning life sciences practice also goes from strength to strength with the appointment of senior life sciences lawyer, Rachel Bradley. Previously a corporate counsel for pharmaceutical company MedImmune, part of the AstraZeneca group, Bradley has advised life sciences and technology clients for more than a decade on commercial and IP matters.
