of care as soon as possible is equally as important as the time savings we provide,” Sarah says. “We land back here at the airport and then an ambu- lance transports the patient to HSC, if we’re going to St. Boniface with a cardiac patient, we land at the City of Winnipeg Heliport on Tyme, about six to seven minutes out from St. Boniface,” says Rob Kamphuis, STARS pilot. “Half of our calls are medical emergencies, the other half are traumatic injuries, of which include vehicle collisions. We also have the capability to do search and rescue. We have night vision goggles and a search light on the front of the helicopter,” adds Cam.
