Channel Catfish Top spots: Manitoba is the proclaimed “Channel Catfish Capital of the World”, and fish are caught in several destinations but the most reputable are the Red River, north of the Lockport Dam. Other top locations include various stretches of the Red River, Assiniboine River, Winnipeg River and Lake Winnipeg Record Catch: Caught in the Red River, measuring 118 cm (46.5”)


Cisco (Tullibee) Top spots: Rocky Lake, Cedar Lake, Simonhouse Lake, Cormorant and Big Whiteshell Lake Record Catch: Caught in Rocky Lake, measuring 59.69 cm (23.50”)


Common Carp Top spots: Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba, Lake of the Prairies, Red River, Whitemud River, Assiniboine River, and Fairford River Record Catch: Caught in the Red River, measuring 107.95 cm (42.5”).


Freshwater Drum Locally identified as the “Silver Bass” Top spots: Whitemud River, Red River, Waterhen River, Assiniboine River, and Fairford River Record Catch: Catches from the Red and Fairford Rivers, measur- ing 88.90 cm (35”)


Goldeye Top spots: Stretches of the Saskatchewan River, Red River, Assini- boine River, Pembina River and the Winnipeg River Record Catch: Saskatchewan River, measuring 50.50 cm (19.88”)


Lake Sturgeon Top spots: Commonly caught at a few specific locations within the province, Winnipeg River of the Eastern Region is the heart of large annual catches, stretches below the multiple hydroelectric dams of the Winnipeg River, the Red River, Assiniboine River and Saskatchewan River Record Catch: Red River, measuring 199.39 cm (78.5”)
