ULSTER CHEMISTS’ ASSOCIATION IN FOCUS
Welcome W
elcome to the first UCA in Focus. This is our first, dedicated UCA newsletter which we will be sending to all pharmacies every month. Each edition of Pharmacy in
Focus will have UCA news and information all in one 4-page section profiling the work of the association for pharmacies and pharmacists in community and primary care pharmacy. In between PIF editions, your UCA Newsletter will be sent direct.
In other news, I had the pleasure of hosting the UCA’s Presidents Ball recently and along with my wife Oonagh we had a terrific night and it was a great opportunity to chat with members and guests.
Congratulations to all of our Pharmacy in Focus Award winners and of course the finalists; you truly are an inspiration to your peers. Remember to utilise your award success to promote your pharmacy, whether that be through your local press and with your customers.
Display that Chemi with pride as it is a symbol of all that you and your dedicated team have worked and continue to work so hard for.
As I mentioned in my speech at the Ball, UCA now offers membership to individual pharmacists. Whether you work in a community pharmacy, locum around Northern Ireland or work in a primary care setting, we can offer you support and representation.
A group of employee pharmacists are currently advising UCA on how to shape the offering and we are currently inviting more to come forward. We want to hear from you!
The UCA is committed to community pharmacy and its role in public health. With this in mind we are determined that all pharmacists working in a primary care pharmacy should have a voice and representation.
With everyone working to the same agenda, meeting and exceeding patient expectations we will ensure the strength of the community pharmacy network. By joining this new group you will be able to avail of the UCA services, shaping the future of community pharmacy and ensuring that the voice of the employee pharmacist is heard.
As a contractor myself, I feel that it is vital that the community pharmacy network continues to deliver and develop extended services. By engaging with all pharmacists, together we can achieve this.
This same engagement will ensure that we retain the skills and enthusiasm of all pharmacists - therefore delivering first class pharmaceutical care for our patients and a secure future for pharmacy.
